NECK PAIN

There’s Nothing Funny about a Pain in the Neck!

People often joke about other people or things being “a pain in the neck”, but if you or somebody you know is suffering from neck pain, then you know it’s no laughing matter.  About 1 out of 10 of all people in the US has experienced neck pain at some point in their lives. And, 15.1% of people in the US said neck pain was their most common pain complaint.

Neck Pain Defined

Neck pain is defined as any type of pain that occurs from the top of your shoulders to the bottom of your head, the cervical spine.  Symptoms can be mild to severe and often limit the range of motion of your head, shoulders and upper body.

Neck pain is reported more often by women than men and most people with neck pain tend to be between the ages of 18 to 64. The average age for neck pain patients is 49.5 years old.

 Causes of cervical disc pain

One of the most common causes of neck pain is aging. As you get older, you are more likely to have increased wear and tear on the vertebrae, discs and nerves in your spine, often leading to neck pain.

Another common cause of neck pain is repetitive motion injuries. If your job requires you to hold your head at the same angle for a long period of time, this can increase your risk of developing neck pain. Stress is also a contributing factor in many cases of neck pain.

Like any type of pain, neck pain is nature’s way of telling you that something is not right within your body. Pain indicates that the natural balance has been disturbed and that something is out of whack. (More information.)

Non-Surgical Treatment with IDD Therapy® at the Disc & Spine Center

Because neck pain tends to originate in the spinal column, one of the most effective neck pain treatments is gentle, non-surgical spinal decompression treatment using IDD Therapy®. The goal of treatment is to return the spine to its original position. This can relieve the pressures on the discs, nerves and vertebrae that can lead to neck pain.

Most patients can experience immediate relief from neck pain and other symptoms with just a few gentle sessions.  Plus, because we treat the causes of neck pain – rather than masking them with drugs or using invasive procedures such as surgeries – once the pain is gone, it typically will not return unless something else goes out of balance within the body.

Address your neck pain –  SCHEDULE YOUR FREE CONSULTATION with one of our doctors right now. We can provide you with the gentle, long-lasting – and often permanent – relief you seek while employing only natural, non-invasive techniques.
